This certification recognizes Alma Carraovejas’ sustainable vision regarding climate action, decarbonization, and stewardship of the land.

Committed to a more sustainable future, we approach wine with respect for the land and the connection we maintain with the communities where our wine-growing projects are based. Guided by this conviction, we continue to work day in and day out, and today we can celebrate the renewal of our GOLD status—the highest distinction awarded by the International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), which we first achieved in 2022.

For Alma Carraovejas, being part of this collaborative group—the IWCA—means joining forces with wineries around the world that are convinced that cooperation is key to addressing the challenges of climate change and building a more sustainable future, by taking joint actions to decarbonize the global wine sector.

As part of our commitment to climate action, we promote a form of viticulture that seeks balance with the environment. Eighty-two percent of our vineyards are certified organic, and three of our projects—Marañones, Ossian, and Milsetentayseis—have earned the Demeter seal for Biodynamic Agriculture. This work is accompanied by a constant evaluation of our environmental performance, aimed at reducing our impact and generating positive value for the regions where we operate.

The renewal of our GOLD status also recognizes the progress we’ve made in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our commitment to continuing to improve year after year. This commitment is yielding results; between 2024 and 2025, we have reduced the intensity of our greenhouse gas emissions from 2.80 to 2.15 kg CO₂e per liter of wine, representing a 23.04% decrease compared to our current base year, 2024. This progress reflects the work carried out throughout our value chain and is part of a long-term strategy to help the wine sector adapt to climate change.

Measurement is an essential tool for driving real improvement. That is why, at Alma Carraovejas, we voluntarily calculate our carbon footprint across all three scopes in accordance with the ISO 14064 methodology, compiling a comprehensive inventory of greenhouse gas emissions. This third-party verified analysis allows us to understand the impact of our operations and identify opportunities for reduction at every stage of the process, from vine cultivation to wine distribution. As a result, we continue to make progress toward specific goals outlined in our roadmap to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

We are also driving the transition toward a decarbonized energy consumption model through increased use of renewable sources and on-site power generation. The energy we consume at Alma Carraovejas comes from renewable sources, thanks to the purchase of electricity with guarantees of origin (73.89%) and the energy we generate on-site using a biomass boiler, geothermal energy, aerothermal energy, and solar panels (32.83%).

At Alma Carraovejas, we are convinced that the renewal of this recognition allows us to continue moving forward with the same vision that has guided us from the beginning: caring for our environment, respecting its rhythms, and contributing to its conservation. Because the vineyard is not a legacy from our parents, but a loan from our children.
